I am using two of my old ender 3s to build a much faster printer that can use engineering filaments. And I can have on my back!

im trying to use any many ender 3 parts as possible in this build so im using all the plates on the x gantry for the belted z axis

it took a lot of work with the coping saw and bending parts off but they are ready!

Hydra devlog 1

Currently drawing the design of where I want everything to go.

General ideas

triple belted z axis
mgn9 rails for x and y
corexy gantry for high speeds
wooden, markerboard enclosure due to ease of lasercutting and low price
I plan on taking an unusual approach by putting the x and y axis motors in the front along the with the belt tensioners
will be printed mostly in carbon fiber petg
electronics will be mounted and arrraged neatly in bottom compartment

what next

I want to start assembling a basic frame from the old aluminum extrusions to model from and test with, using pla for initial prints

I hope at the end of this project I can build a printer that is more reliable than its predecessors
