Here is what we did:
1. Added a secret button to make AI go crazy by setting it’s rotation speed to 0.1 :D
2. Added a difficulty changer, difficulties:
Easy: the ai is a little slower and starts behind the player
Normal: just normal gameplay
Hard: The AI is faster and the player is slower (to win you almost have to use shortcuts)
3. Bumping into the AI car is now funnier, because now it stops the AI car from fixing itself so it can now go flying :D)
4. If you didn’t hit all checkpoints before hitting the finish line, the game now tells you about it in the lap counter text
5. If the player wins, the camera goes on top of the AI car so you can see where it was.
6. If you fall through the ground, the game now puts you to where you were instead of the start
Then we also fixed a lot of bugs, most of the were caused by the new features.
Next devlog we will actually add the second level (and fix some issues with the machine) and then the project is completed! (also and the video below isn’t the most clear but it showcases all the added features)
Big update to KuuppaCam! I made the site look way better and fixed some stuff. I used github copilot to add recording so you can now record from your camera and I also used it to add easy IP changing so you can use it without editing the code. Also the IP address is now in https so it’s more secure and hopefully works better. THIS IS THE FINAL VERSION OF KUUPPACAM, the old version is still in github (kuuppacam-old.html) (Also the video below has no audio because apparently the zorin os video recorder doesn’t have audio recording :D)
I am making a portable Bluetooth speaker that will hopefully not sound bad. I am using a bluetooth amplifier board (GW542B_BP104B1_V1.0) that I got from an old bluetooth speaker. It has a battery, usb-c charging, aux port, usb port and it supports two speakers and led lightning. The led bar from the original speaker is too big so i’m not gonna use that. It was kinda hard figuring out where you actually put the speaker wires in the amplifier because there is so many connectors and most of them don’t even work. I’m gonna design and probably 3d print the shell for the speaker. Here I just got the speakers wired up. I will add the LED next devlog. I’m gonna try to fit the two speakers in the shell but designing it is in the next devlog. Here is a photo of my current setup and the amplifier board(with only the battery connected). Also i’m gonna fix the dent on the second speaker :D
Fourth devlog. Massive game update! We updated the map with more stuff, people, gas pumps, flowers and fire. We also changed the boost text’s language to english, made the start text blink, added a lap system and made it so you can also look backwards. For the machine we added a ventilation system(right now it isn’t the best though) and put back the box around the screen. We also put a wooden chair that I made in school so you can sit while you play. Really great. Next devlog I will probably add a second level or something. Made with @Makkonen
Third devlog. We added more artwork and finished painting. We made it possible to close the door again because the racing wheel was blocking it. Controller (wheel) now works properly. We added an useless antenna to the back for no reason. Made with @Makkonen
Second devlog of this project. First we removed the c64 mini joystick and the speakers. We replaced them with a racing wheel (i forgot that i had one) and the spekers we replaced with the elements and front casing of an old bluetooth speaker for better sound quality (still using the PAM8403 aliexpress amp). We also stabilized the laptop more so it won’t fall. We had to make more holes for the power button but we will fill them in the next devlog. We also added an useless cable and a warning sticker to the back for no reason. Made with @Makkonen
Okay this is actually the final devlog. I added spotify(kuuppamusic) and youtube(kuuppavid) apps. They don’t really have any purpose but I still added them. From the spotify app you can listen to lofi beats, but because it’s an embed it doesn’t even play the full song. From the youtube app you can watch Never gonna give you up by Rick Astley (i didn’t know what else to put). For the youtube app i used github copilot to make the function to start autoplay only when the app is opened. I also updated readme. Now the project is ready to ship.
Final devlog before first ship. Updated readme and added weather forecast emoji and location show with the help of github copilot. The location may or may not work depending on your device, it worked on my phone but i couldn’t get it working with my steam deck. I also fixed the problem where the clock app icon was bigger than the others. The weather now also updates every 10 mins.
Finished the last part of the WebOS mission guide. I added a weather app (I got instructions from copilot in vs code), a clock app (I found a tutorial online), made all windows resizable, fixed some bugs (hopefully) like taskbar being too long and the website being too tall so the scroll bar would always show. I also fixed the bug where you could drag windows and then you couldn’t reach them (with a little help from copilot in vscode). The resize thing is kinda hidden in the window border but you can see it a little.
Finally finished the fourth part of the WebOS mission guide. I had some problems with scripts for the new app so I used github copilot in vscode to fix some. Yes, i also added a second app! It’s not the best but it’s like notepad but worse (atleast right now). It only supports one note at a time, but at least it saves locally to your browser so hopefully you don’t lose your one note :D. It also has a desktop icon that opens and closes the app. Many things will change later, like all the 100+ meaningless commits that actually will hopefully stop right NOW, because I got a new way to test the site without deploying: Live server vs code extension. I guess that’s all for now
Finally completed the third part of the WebOS mission guide (it took so long because I had problems with customization). Made the top bar a bottom bar and added rounded corners, you can now drag the window from the window title (tell me how to make the title smaller and centered while the close button being in the right corner because that stopped working when I made the two divs be at the same row) you can also close it from the red close button and you can reopen it from the bottom bar. I also changed the welcome screen a little. Also the code is now split in three parts.
Just finished the second part of the WebOS mission guide. Now it has top bar with working clock(and font and blur), wallpaper, welcome window with colored background and dashed border with rounded corners. I also added a second link to the welcome screen. Starting to look better already.
I just finished the first part of the WebOS mission guide (and started the second). I will still probably edit the welcome screen after this devlog. There’s nothing special about this yet, but it has a font, text and background color, image with custom size and rounded corners, link to stardance website and text.
I made a DIY surveillance camera from an old (and broken :D) android phone. It uses the IP camera app and custom html code i made myself to show the camera feed in the apk file and the .html file. There isn’t any crazy features, like no remote control (you can do that with tailscale), but it still works well if you don’t need to use it without being home. The code supports live video and live audio but nothing else. I also 3d printed and modified (added a stand with tinkercad) a phone case for galaxy j5 (this is the phone i used), but it didn’t fit as you can see in the image. The apk file is kind of useless unless your camera is at the same ip as mine. Also i didn’t have hackatime properly set up when i started this, but 20min (which actually got logged) is actually pretty close to the time this took. Also @Makkonen helped me with this(i got the idea from him)
I made an arcade machine with @Makkonen . It has an old laptop, old logitech pc speakers(with aliexpress amplifier), c64 mini controller, rgb strip, coin slot, artwork (space invanders and a car) and a lot of cardboard, paint and tape. The game it plays is a racing game that i made in unity in a a coding class and modified for more arcade feeling (for example, added start screen). The game has an opponent, boost button(in the bottom left corner), start screen, restart button, checkpoints(win condition) and music. In future updates there will be more levels(currently it only has one). Also the game is really hard with the c64 mini joystick. I will add future devlogs when i finish the painting because when we ripped some off the tape (to open the doors), it ripped also some of the tape off.
Also we basically finished this project before realising that we need to record a timelapse. Thanks @Makkonen for helping me with this!
