A DIY laptop powered by Raspberry Pi 5 with a 7" display and a keyboard.
Next devlog I’m gonna start making the body for this.
I took apart the PS4 controller and now it only has the touchpad, speaker, charging port and the headphone jack.
I added the Raspberry Pi camera module 3 so I can use the camera.
I also had to make a switch to disable the power to the monitor, because it was glitching when booting.
I added a power button, because the Pi wouldn’t turn on when just turning the power on from the switch.
The final laptop will also have a power bank functionality (when the Pi is not in use), because I will leave the usb port from the power bank exposed.
That’s probably all for now!
I wanted to make a small and portable laptop using parts I had at home.
The laptop’s brain is a Raspberry Pi 5 powered with a power bank I found for just 1€ at a flea market. The capacity is 10 000mah. I connected a bluetooth keyboard I had like never used and a PS4 controller with stick drift. I’m gonna use the controller’s touch pad as a mouse and the headphone jack (and maybe the speaker if possible) for audio. (I’m gonna take the controller apart)
It has a Dfrobot 7” touchscreen.
It will also have HDMI output for an external display.
It doesn’t have the body yet but I will start working on it soon!
