I made a small & simple blackjack game using Python! It took me roughly 4 hours in total, and I’m pretty proud of it if I do say so myself. It’s all contained in 1 file, and it’s only 348 lines long!

I could have improved it by making some of my functions/subroutines and what not a bit simpler, but oh well, it works pretty well so I can’t really complain all that much.

This was a great exercise to test my (kind of lacking) Python skills, and it gave me plenty of insight as to where I can improve!

Simply download the latest pyjack.py file from the latest GitHub release, and play the game! All the required JSON files will be automatically created in a pyjack_data directory inside the directory pyjack.py is contained inside of.

Added the data-driven stuff! It’s now got fully working stats and config, powered by 2 very simple JSON files :yay:

It’s not the most advanced stuff ever; the stats page only keeps track of how many games you’ve won, lost, or drew, and the config only has 2 options, those being toggling the ASCII art logo thingy and toggling the random delay between the dealer’s hits.

I took most of the JSON handling stuff from something I wrote in a compsci class in school, it’s available on GitHub here!

Basically finished the main Blackjack game!
A lot of work since last devlog yes indeed; all that’s left now is the stats and config menu!
I might also add a GUI and/or a money system later since I got through that so fast…
