Today is my birthday, yayy!🥳🥳 I wanted to ship the project today, as a gift for myself, but I have to wait just to be sure that everything is ready. For now enjoy this devlog:
As no one commented on my last devlog (
https://stardance.hackclub.com/projects/35444/devlogs/64652 ) I decided to take matters in my own hands and add some useful elements to the Project:
Ladies and Gentleman, after 70+ hours of coding, I have finally built the last 2 tabs and with that I completed the Version 1.0 of my project.🥳🥳
Now before I ship the software I want to make some changes to make the code more ‘fun’ and enjoyable.
During the making of the last tabs I lost track of time and I let my creativity take over , so I already made the first add-on: a geiger counter emulation in the radiation tab☢️☢️ (however it still needs some polishing).
I want to add more things, what should I add next?🔧
Please let me know in the comments
I know I should work on the remaining ‘visual’ tabs of Fallout 4’s UI, however I found in the original files a tab called Settings, it could let the user change some variables while the code is running. I got really excited that I immediately started to work on it. The original code was good, however I had to completley rework the logic.
Now you can personalize the UI while the OS is running!
Since some elements of the code are loaded before the main loop (like the UI style and Maps) I made the code reset itself (by closing and re-opening) when these specific elements are modified.🔧
Before adding the last DATA elements I forgot to check a piece of the base code: the Real Life Map. To make it work I had to create a Geoapify API Key. It wasn’t that hard and the code worked; however the map was visually a total eyesore so I made it only in black and white ,then inverted its colors and in the end colored it with the selected color scheme. Now the IRL Map matches the Map Style from the games! ☆: .。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:☆
Today I worked on the Notes tab as it’s the last tab that is present in both UIs. Now everything from the Fallout: New Vegas UI is done (the Local and Global Map are the same but let’s not focus on that🫠🫠). Now I’ll work on adding the missing Fallout 4 tabs in the DATA Menu (Workshop, Stats and ,maybe, Settings)🔧.
After finishing the Quest tab I decided to work on something easier, so I made the Fallout New Vegas UI for the Radio tab 📻, I also made some small modifications in the footer and in the radio logic🔧. I also implemented the radios from the game, with all the original voicelines that I could find (I couldn’t find Mr. New Vegas’s voicelines, sorry😣). Also because I don’t want no lawsuit from bethesda I ain’t putting the .mp3 files in the github repo , I replaced them with some songs older than my grandma (so they are in the Public Domain).
So after completing the INV/ITEMS Menu I passed my weekend working on the Quest Tab, as the base code didn’t have almost any code for the DATA Menu I had to work more. The UIs aren’t a 100% replica of the ones from the games, but they are enough for now.
Also, ✨✨ working clock ✨✨
The last devlogs were buried by the algorithm so I’m trying a new style and a Catchier name.
For what regards the project INV Menù completed, it took more than expected but who cares we are here. Now I only need to complete the DATA Menù and then I’ll patiently wait some more for the review and the hardware shipping.
Hello, it’s been a month since my last Devlog, I’ve been really busy and I didn’t really did a lot softwarewise, because the hardware funding got rejected 4 times because I’m a dumbass.😅 However I managed to resend the funding request (hoping that someone will accept it) and work on the code. For now I’ve only completed the STATS menu (by adding the General tab to the Fallout: New Vegas UI, and the Perks tab for Fallout 4’s UI✨) and I’m very near to completing the INV/ITEMS menu , for now I’ve:
the only thing left to do now is creating the fallout new vegas UI, after that I can work on the DATA menu and complete the software.
Also if you want to check out my code I finally put a working version for PC on my github repo. All the necessary info on how to start the code are in the README.
See y’all soon;
Hello Stardancers,
10 hours have flown by and I’ve almost completed the STATS Menu. Here’s what’s new:
Hello Stardancers!
These last days I’ve been working on the New Vegas/Fallout 3 UI of my project. For now this UI is still a WIP, here’s a quick rundown of what I have to do these next days:
Yes, it’s a lot of things to do, however these last few days I’ve been mainly working on finding the assets from Fallout New Vegas, after rummaging through the Fallout Fandom Wiki I found a good 98% of all the images from the game 🎉. I also completed the Condition(CND) menu, which took a lot of time, especially the creation of the vault-boy,for whom I had to crop different images in order to get all the 7 parts (head/face/torso/arms/legs) and all their variations (5 for the face and 2 for the other 6 parts)🫠🫠. Here’s some funny images of the failed vault-boy setup and an image of the completed CND tab, can you guess which is which?🤭
Hello Stardancers!
Today I have some good news and bad news:
Hello Stardancers!
Now that the 3D model is somewhat finished (I forgor to add the Usb and HDMI holes and some support structures for the hardware that I’ll add when I have the pieces) I finally went to the software part.
For now I just managed to compile the open-source code that I found online (after an hour of losing my mind🫠🫠) .
However today I’m posting so as to let you know my plans for this project:
See you soon,
