Nyapkin is a working Slack bot with three commands: /nyapkin-ping, /nyapkin-help, and /nyapkin-catfact. The bot has been tested successfully in Hack Club Slack, and the source code is available on GitHub.
My Hack Club Nest application is currently pending review, so I haven’t been able to complete 24/7 hosting yet. I plan to deploy it as soon as my Nest account is approved.
made my first slack bot!! i named it nyapkin because i wanted to make a cute little cat bot :3
so far i added 3 commands: one that checks the bot’s latency, one that lists all the commands, and one that gives you random cat facts using an API!!
this took way more troubleshooting than i expected lmao. first npm wasn’t working, then i had issues with git, and then my commands just refused to respond even though the bot was running 😭 but i eventually figured everything out and got all 3 commands working!!
i also learned how to use .env files to keep my tokens private and how to push my code to github!
i’m still waiting for my nest application to get approved so i can host nyapkin 24/7. i definitely wanna add more commands later, especially cute interactions like hugs and headpats!!
