Devlog #1 — INTRO & Scaffold and drive scanner
HEY PEOPLE, your days of managing storage are over with SIFT
What I built now -
- Project structure with a virtual environment and Git repo
- Central config file with folders Sift will never touch (VERRY IMP)
- SQLite database with a table that stores every file’s size and dates
- A scanner that walks a folder, skips system folders and half-downloaded
files, and saves everything to the database
- A command that prints the 10 biggest files, plus a first automated test
What I learned:
- How os.walk works and how to make it skip folders
- Why SQL should use placeholders
- Why try/execute is important
Problems I hit:
I hit various small syntax and defination problems in almost every file nothing major
Next: a journal/log that records every change so any action can be undone.
