Two small fixes, DONE
Fix 1 - The character now stands IN FRONT of the info bar.
This was a cz-ordering mistake. The player info strip (name, level, coins) was being drawn after* the character sprite, so it sliced right through the fighter’s legs like a floating ribbon. The fix was simply reordering the draw calls: info bar first, then fighter on top. (And it was a headache to do this)
Fix 2 - The main menu background slowly crossfades between three different arenas - the Palace, the ancient Temple, and the volcanic crater.
This small stuff eat up time very quickly, how can there be SO MANY BUGSS !!!
Devlog #3: Main Menu Animation Update
Small change, big improv.
Up until now, the main menu showed a rotating carousel of all the characters just to show off. Cool at first, but kind of impersonal. Today I changed it so the menu only shows your character — the one you’ve actually selected and are training with.
The fighter now stands on the right side of the screen, fully animated, cycling through their idle stance and attack poses. The subtle glow behind them uses their unique aura colour (red for the Warlord, cyan for the Shadow, blue for the Guardian, etc.), so the whole menu changes vibe depending on who you’ve picked.I also swapped out the bright orange volcanic background for something darker and more cinematic — a moody palace courtyard backdrop (will change the bg to a rotating system soom).
#2
Yo, so first of all i’m trying to properly load the sprites and let me tell you slicing them and getting their backgrounds and animations right IS A REAL PAIN. Other than that I’m trying to make the mainscreen interesting by adding sprite animations.
I was working on the dojo and the back button disappeared so i fixed it now i need to handle the punching bag and its physics…..man I’m tried but its fun tho. THERE’S A LOT OF DEBUGGING AHEAD.
Catch you next time…
(P.S. i didnt know that i need to post devlogs frequently…hence the delay…sorry)
Yo Great People,This is my first devlog kinda new to to this cool platform
So I’ve been banging my head on developing a python game : Shadow Strike
It is a 2D arcade fighting game built entirely in python using Pygame.
I wanted to make a fighting game which feels like a classic retro arcade game but with modern RPG like progression.
