Pots and 555 timer on a led strip to control the colors and brightness no MICRO CONTROLLER ALLOWED

Ship #1 Pending review

12v common anode led strip controller

This uses NO MICROCONTROLLER NO CODE PURE HARDWARE :)

this was my first time doing something purely hardware i learnt a lot and how unforgiving and hard it is to debug
soldering and inhaling the fumes has def reduced my life by 2+ years w the magic smoke from the one 555 that blew up in my face

the problem i was solving was there was no chip/controller that i could custom program for anything i want without involving a microcontroller. i just wanted to control the intensity of each color independently

i learnt about breadboards having capacitance and for the first time i did my own wiring and didnt use jumpers not the prettiest job but it looks better than 400 jumpers and i had to redneck my own 12v adapter to make it w jumpers and i may have burnt some led strips and wasted enough solder getting the temps right on my pinecil [FROM HACKCLUB :) ]

video of working is on the github page had a lot of crashouts and lost enough sleep over debugging this i hope someone else finds this useful too

WE DID IT

all it took was two broken pots atleast 30cm of solder in my lungs and enough crashouts and questioning myself and my skills
This time i turned on my last itr of the circuit and then started probing TURNS OUT pin 7 was BLOWN thats why nothing worked and i only got 6.7V on output and 3.3 v 100k resistor directly this time i used another type of potentiometer (the og) and then got one more 555 and used a more breadboard friendly wiring diagram

555 JUST WONT WORK

ive spent genunely tm time on this and the this time i even soldered leads to the led strip ( first time flawless btw ) it works on the 12v supply the led and the mosfet alone but the 555 just wont work even aft i check every wire w continuity and aft trying 5 diff schematics and ways to do pwm ts just absurd 😭

Hi guys back aft getting more components :o7:

New color coded wires and new schematic from the book ‘Practical Electronics for inventors’ I blew up a 555 off camera while working :sob-ios-67:
Also circuit still doesnt work ive tried making my own taking it frm yt and from a book now idk why its not working gonna check wire continuity tmr and make sure im cutting the wires long enough to make contact
Mosfet is still a mystery to me but ill figure it out :)
