A game of Adventure - The Odyssey
ITS’ OVER GUYZZZ…… THE GAME IS READY!!!!!
Finally finished the game and completed the entire journey from those first pixelated screens to an actual playable game T_TDeveloped three mini games based on stories from Odyssey — not a direct adaptation or anything, just taking inspiration from the stories and turning them into games. Guys come onnn, it’s a game >_<
The frustrating all-nighters, debugging, breaking things, fixing them, breaking them again…… somehow I loved all of it.
I learned wayyyy more by actually building the game than I expected. Every bug was painful at that moment, but finally it felt soooo good.
2D games are good……BUT 3D IS AWESOME.
NEXT ONTO ITTTTTT.
Finally I am into the real game GUYZZZ…..
The minigame -2 took a lot of time there was much to learn - caz i got stuck in a bug where my button click signals are not captured. But the mission stuffs are done for now!
I have started to create the real game. Added some animations - made the title wavy just by turning on BBCode and using the [wave]tag in RichTextLabel, which is dope .
For the subtitle I wanted a typewriter effect . At first I tried doing it with a quick Tween on visible_characters, but it can’t trigger a sound for each single letter . So I changed it to a loop with visible_characters and a tiny timer delay, and added a proper mechanical typewriter key sound that clicks on every single letter as it types out. And that blip sound - wired it up to play whenever you hit Start, Settings, or Quit buttons so the menu click feelzzz .
The same refactor has to be done for other scenes as well.
I am onto that journey to Ithica………
Devlog-2
Developed a mini game according to the guide but i am placing only placeholders for now .
As i have a plan to develop a game based on Odyssey but the the guide is about garlics >_< .
Yupppp, finally started my game dev journey on the last laps of Stardance
Done the routine stuffs → watched some intro and basic game dev videos from YouTube (still the pixelated Art stuffs are remaining ) and started the mission following the guide provided .
Designed the Title Screen and Level Screen. Development took around 1/4th of the entire time spent, and the rest was spent debugging .
Finally found out it was just a name mismatch in the button press function.
Happy that I found it, but also frustrated that I couldn’t figure it out earlier than this ;_;
A good start, I guess……
