Well pcb soldering was done it takes a lot of time just to fixing some issues like some times the some calculations are not correct idk the exact reason but I think due to the voltage fluctuation that happening and Ai is also concluding this so used two seprate baterry one to power the calculation and one to power the leds so the current drawn is lesser and also I switched from powering it using esp32 ( I know that’s sounds foolish but it is handy when u are doing it on breadboard I have breadboard powering thing but I accidentally burned by jack so I cant use that ) . Well I changed the powering to 3.7 v Battery that’s work good also I am using 3.7 for driving leds and using the 5v cvt for the main calculation well after that I soldered wires for the Inputs and soldered the cuts legs resistors to wire so that I can easily attch to the breadboard then I accidentally dropped the whole thing and accidentally broke one standoff and replace it with the middle one that took almost 10 mins as I have to resolder the carry ina dn out and subtract pins as I directly solder the resistors legs so there is no more extra length want to remove one standoff . Well I remember foggy what I did but I have done 2 pcb in this AND ALSO I AHVE TO RESOLDER MANY MANY times like first i try to directly solder led on pcb but I realised same power issue first pcb led work good until the second pcb led was connected it slike halfing of power to each so I then change to. Esp32 as the mediator like the calculator calculates and then gives the esp32 low level signals and esp32 will drive the leds like a driver but that also fails it was like using old car to tow the new car which is good condition also it was increasing in wires also then I ordered some transistors finally and use transistors I use separate baterry for leds and seprate for the calculator and I soldered everything wires and everything then connect it to the breadboard and finally this project is over .
nothing special, just soldering! completed 2 more pcbs today, so 6 pcbs done in total. tommorrow i’ll complete this project!
also soldered the transistors on the other 2 pcbs, only the resistors are left now. im thinking about the power problem tho, as the number of pcbs increases, i think im having some power issues. when i tested with just 4 pcbs, the leds were glowing with good brightness, but now with 6 pcbs the brightness is really low.
still have to connect 25 wires and im also running low on transistors, only 3 left. i thought of using them for the leds to get full brightness, but i already added one transistor to a pcb and the brightness is still low.
6 pcbs done today, project should be complete by tommorrow
All 4 PCBs are soldered and assembled!! I soldered and fixed all of them the day before, but then I started facing some problems while testing them. When I tested them individually, 3 out of 4 PCBs were working fine. But 2 of them had the same issue in subtraction mode and were not doing the subtraction properly. At first, everything seemed fine when I tested them individually, so I thought maybe it was a power supply issue. The 4th PCB also had some problems, so I tried fixing that too.I also spent around 4 extra hours soldering, fixing and troubleshooting all these PCBs. This time wasnt included in my original time tracking, so Im adding it here in the devlog.Heres the timelapse of the work:https://lapse.hackclub.com/timelapse/ybwchpALz-pzAfter that, I installed the spacers and tried running all 4 PCBs together, but something went wrong and the whole setup wasnt working properly 😭. Even after fixing the individual PCBs and assembling everything, it still didnt work as expected. But today, I finally fixed all the issues and completed the 4-bit adder and subtractor It took quite some time to figure out what was going wrong, but finally got it working!! Now just 4 more PCBs to go
The 3rd PCB is done!1 PCB was not working because of loose solder joints, so i reheated all the solder joints and it started working again.Soldering is taking a lot of time, it took me around 2 hours just to solder 1 PCB. The PCBs are very small and compact, so its kinda hard to solder everything properly. Also i am using THT resistors which makes it a bit harder to place everything neatly. And i have ADHD so i want everything to be perfect lol. Every resistor should be placed in the same direction and the spacing should be same, and every solder joint should look good. I want the PCB to look clean and organised, not just work properly. For now i am just doing the soldering part, nothing more. Still have more work to do but atleast 3 PCBs are done now. Slowly getting there, one PCB at a time.Nothing much exciting yet, just a lot of soldering and trying to make everything look perfect 😭
Inhaling Fumes: Soldering PCBs.Soldered 2 PCBs. Only one is working correctly, while the other one still has some issues. I’m still trying to figure out what’s wrong. It could just be a loose solder joint or a short circuit caused by a solder bridge. I really don’t want to redo the soldering and add more solder, so I’m checking the connections first and trying to find the problem.
