Also built Quick Commands - one input to type stuff like /plan work 60 or /help instead of clicking through menus. Still wiring up the rest of the commands.
Underneath that: Create Focus Plan, with a Timer: Work Mode. Right now it just displays 00:00 as a placeholder – next up is hooking it to the actual session logic so starting a plan counts down for real.:)

Helpy is a cross-platform desktop application built with Electron, accompanied by a Chrome extension, to help individuals with ADHD manage tasks, improve focus, and reduce distractions. The project was designed around the idea that productivity tools should adapt to the user rather than requiring the user to adapt to the tool.

The application combines task management, focus sessions, reminders, and browser integration into a single, streamlined experience. The Chrome extension allows users to quickly capture tasks while browsing, while the desktop application provides a centralized workspace for organizing and tracking progress.

One of the primary challenges was integrating the Electron desktop application with the Chrome extension while maintaining a consistent user experience. Packaging the application for distribution across multiple platforms and designing an interface that remains simple without sacrificing functionality also required significant effort.

This project strengthened my understanding of Electron, Chrome Extension APIs, desktop application packaging, application architecture, and user-centered interface design. I am particularly proud of creating a solution that addresses a real accessibility and productivity challenge while remaining easy to install and use.

To test the project:

Download and install the latest release from the GitHub Releases page.
Launch the Helpy desktop application.
Load the Chrome extension using Chrome’s Developer Mode (Load unpacked or install the provided package).
Create tasks, start focus sessions, and use the extension to save tasks directly from the browser.
Verify that tasks and productivity features function as expected.
