Just added a bunch more Malayalam across the site and finally got the career guide PDF in. Figured people should be able to save something and actually walk away with it instead of just scrolling through once. Also cleaned up the readability and squeezed out some performance while I was in there.

Honestly the Malayalam translations were the hard part. A lot of career/science terms just don’t have a clean Malayalam equivalent, so it wasn’t a translate-and-done job; it took a lot of rewriting until it sounded like something a person would actually say instead of a textbook. Still not 100% happy with a couple of sections, but it’s way better than before.

What I’m most happy with is that Arivu finally feels bilingual instead of just having a language toggle that doesn’t mean much. That was the whole point of building this.

Helpy is a cross-platform desktop application built with Electron, accompanied by a Chrome extension, to help individuals with ADHD manage tasks, improve focus, and reduce distractions. The project was designed around the idea that productivity tools should adapt to the user rather than requiring the user to adapt to the tool.

The application combines task management, focus sessions, reminders, and browser integration into a single, streamlined experience. The Chrome extension allows users to quickly capture tasks while browsing, while the desktop application provides a centralized workspace for organizing and tracking progress.

One of the primary challenges was integrating the Electron desktop application with the Chrome extension while maintaining a consistent user experience. Packaging the application for distribution across multiple platforms and designing an interface that remains simple without sacrificing functionality also required significant effort.

This project strengthened my understanding of Electron, Chrome Extension APIs, desktop application packaging, application architecture, and user-centered interface design. I am particularly proud of creating a solution that addresses a real accessibility and productivity challenge while remaining easy to install and use.

To test the project:

Download and install the latest release from the GitHub Releases page.
Launch the Helpy desktop application.
Load the Chrome extension using Chrome’s Developer Mode (Load unpacked or install the provided package).
Create tasks, start focus sessions, and use the extension to save tasks directly from the browser.
Verify that tasks and productivity features function as expected.

I’ve built a sci-fi, terminal-style portfolio website that is a “mission dossier” of my journey in space science, hardware, and machine learning. Instead of a resume, it has interactive sections such as “Mission Logs” (projects), “Capabilities” (tech stack), and “Active Transmissions” (current focus).
The main problem was crafting a UI that felt like a real aerospace control terminal and classified dossier but was still responsive and performant. I also had to structure the data carefully so that the hover cards for “Mission Records” and “Credentials” could be rendered dynamically without weighing down the page.
I am really proud of the overall aesthetic and the narrative flow; it is not just a list of my skills but tells the story of a 15 year old aspiring astrophysicist from Kerala. I’m also proud to have tied my real world milestones like being a NASA Space Apps Global Nominee (Team RC_Real Coding) and my ISRO achievements into this cohesive “classified” theme.

What I made: My personal portfolio site — a single-file, deep-space-themed site built to represent my work in astrophysics, AI, and hardware to evaluators and collaborators. It runs a canvas starfield, a constellation-following cursor, and orbiting exoplanet animations and pulls live data from my GitHub (@Akshithsurya) so the projects section stays current without manual updates.
What was challenging: Getting the animations to feel alive without tanking performance. I had several separate requestAnimationFrame loops running at once early on, which caused visible lag on scroll. I consolidated them into a single scheduler, dropped a full-viewport SVG grain overlay that was expensive to render, removed backdrop-filter blur during scroll events, and added content-visibility:auto to keep off-screen sections from being painted. The site went through several visual identity passes before landing on the current cosmic direction.
What I’m proud of: It’s a single HTML file — no framework, no build step — that still holds a coherent, deliberate aesthetic and runs smoothly on modest hardware, which matters given the site’s audience.
How to test it: Visit the live link, scroll through the sections, and try moving the cursor near the starfield to see the constellation effect. The GitHub activity should reflect my actual repositories in real time.

I have reviewed all of the errors, made the project better, added Malayalam as a new language, and added more career pathways. The UI was inspired by old mobile notes apps, and we have done a lot of research for this version. I have done a lot of work for this passion project :)
