I am building an app for my VEX Robotics team’s organization that will help boost productivity, organization, and communication. It ships with a fully-customizable discord bot, web interface, and backend api server.

Around four months ago, I noticed my school’s robotics organization had a lot of small problems adding up
- Our calendar was a one-page Google Doc
- Communication was scattered
- Field elements kept getting lost
- New members constantly needed help
- People across our 6 teams often had no idea what they were supposed to be doing
So a friend and I started building a centralized management portal. A few technical decisions I made
- Turborepo for a monorepo, so I didn’t have to duplicate backend logic across multiple repos
- Supabase + Prisma for auth and database accessZuplo for API rate limiting
- RoboEvents API for competition data
- GitHub + Fusion 360 webhooks for Discord notifications
- Render + UptimeRobot to keep hosting cheap and reduce cold starts
It was a long and difficult road to get here, as I had to learn so many new tools and resolve so many different problems. But now the portal has officially shipped to our robotics organization, with 200+ members across 6 teams!!
Pretty crazy considering it started because our Google Doc calendar sucked.

I just added a couple of slash commands for the discord bot related to admin features (such as creating platform invite links, event scheduling, etc)
Updated web interface UI and wired dashboard with supabase db.
