What I’ve done

QOL FEATURES ADDED AS REQUESTED

Added search history for easy recall
Added a share button for easy sharing and collaboration

Other

Fixed sessions (cookies): This means that you can now only vote once on each user solution, also it makes the search history work

What’s next?

Again, this project is now finished for now. I am eager to hear any possible improvements or feature suggestions

FOR SHIP REVIEWER

I included these in my ship but I’m going to send them again because it doesn’t seem like its been read before returning

QOL Improvments from my project

Speedy Error Lookup: User only needs to input the details once and can access many different resources to help solve their issue; Google, Reddit, StackOverflow, AI and User Submitted Solutions
User Submitted Solutions: Solutions can be submitted by many users so you can view many different solutions from real people, and these are sorted by votes, naturally filtering them.
Local Result Caching: Caches user lookups to eliminate the need for repeated API calls and therefore makes searching near instant for the end user.

Devlog - 01/10/2026 to 06/10/2026

What I’ve Done

Moved Website to Nest for 24/7 uptime
Updated Readme to have a better order
Added Images to readme
Added live website link to readme

What’s next?

This Project is Finished as of now, I might revisit it in the future.

Universal Error Lookup

What did I make?

I made a Universal Error Code Lookup, a web app for developers, which speeds up debugging by turning tedious searches into a single, simple step. It checks http API databases, built-in OS error codes and can query Google Gemini for obscure errors. It also caches results for increased speed. Additionally, the web app allows for users so submit and vote on solutions and even provides deeplinks for easy web searches.

What should people know so they can test my project?

HTTP error codes like 404 or 401 will query the API. Low-level OS error codes will use your system’s own error info to return results. Entering other error codes will query Google Gemini.
Also, try out submitting and voting on solutions and test out the search deeplinks !!

What was challenging?

Orchestrating lookups and handling their errors. The APIs constantly stopped working with no clear reason. Therefore I organised a fallback structure to handle this and to reduce number of AI API calls.
Handling DBs safely. I had to constantly change my code to ensure database security and to provide all the necessary results.

What am I proud of?

I learned new skills. This is the first web application I created myself from scratch. Additionally, this is my first time querying APIs.
I created a genuinely useful tool. Even when this was still in development, I was using this to help me determine error solutions.

Frictionless info

Problem Being Solved: Deciphering and debugging error codes is tedious.
QoL Improvments:
- Multi-Tier Lookup in One Click
- User Submissions and Voting
- Pre-filtered deep-links

Inital Devlog - Universal Error Lookup

What I’ve done

Multi-Source Fetching - API (httpstatuses.io/), OS system errors (os.sterror), fallback AI (gemini)
Crafted Search Links - Search links to Google; normal search, Reddit search and StackOverflow search.
Database Caching - SQLite database with indexed tables (searches and solutions) to store past queries and reduce API use.
Community Solutions and Voting - Users can submit solutions and up/downvote entries, using sessions to track past votes.

What’s Next?

UI improvments - Update CSS
Sanitise user submitted solutions
UX Update - Convert to fetch to avoid need for page reloads

Note to reviewer. I submitted this because I need funding to complete the project. But it got denied because I haven’t finished. A catch-22 situation has been created and idk what I can even do about it. Thanks.
