@maximillillian on Blades in the Dark Playersheet
I made a web-based tracker for the tabletop RPG ‘Blades in the Dark’ (BitD). Well-known RPGs like D&D already have many options available for keeping track of information of your player character (PC). These include Roll20, D&Dbeyond, and many more. However, BitD is much less known, and there isn’t a great option to keep track of the large amounts of info the game gives you, aside from pencil and paper. My goal with this project was to make a mobile and pc-friendly site (not app) that can be used for tracking various things. localstorage is used so that even after the site is closed, the data persists. This is similar to cookies, but a better choice for many types of data, like the ints and strings I have to store. One of the hardest parts of this project was the clock feature. In BitD, clocks are used for keeping track of the progress of various things, such as building something or a person discovering you. My tracker allows the user to create any number of clocks, of any size, and increment/decrement them as they wish. These all are saved through page refreshes, and are created at runtime with Javascript. The site also has two text boxes for various info on items and notes of your player, similar to a digital notebook. I also built all the CSS myself, and I quite like the look; it mirrors the appearance of the player sheets from the game and the website.
