Ship

Goose Games ship 2

This is a fairly simple WarioWare game, where you have to manage to beat 5 minigames to win.

The Game currently features 7 Minigames:

  • Platformer - eat the 3 Breads as fast as possible
  • Clicker - eat all of the 6 Breads in time
  • Click-Smasher - Honk at the human enough times in the timeframe
  • Flappy-Goose - Reach a random score of points
  • Don’t-Click - you don’t.
  • Honk-Correctly - Hit the green area to honk correctly
  • Jump - jump over a random amount of obstacles

I added so much to the game since last ship, but here are some things I remember off the top of my head:

  • WarioWare Music and SFX
  • Settings Screen actually working lol
  • 4 new minigames
  • randomisation - for example in minigames but also in which order you get minigames
  • Popup Text at the beginning of the minigame
  • tons of bug fixes
  • prob more

Thanks for playing, hope you have fun!

Fixing Stuff and more!

Since last time I firstly added some sound effects to better indicate if you failed or not-

for example if you fail the HONK CORRECTLY! Minigame its a different honk to when you win, or same for the new minigame I added- yes I added a new minigame:

JUMP!: Here you must jump over some items I drew, had a lot of fun to draw these again, also drew some new Backgrounds and so on.

I also added the actual controls and code for the settings to actually work, and also added credits there haha.

Lastly I fixed a really annoying bug, that was driving me insane - the music wouldn’t Always work in the browser for whatever reason. After some digging the solution was surprisingly easy, just had to change the Default Playback type for audio in the project settings. I am glad that works now.

Not much to go untill the second ship, Maybe I’ll add another minigame, or just ship it in the next devlog - we’ll see.

Yippie, added another game- HONK CORRECTLY! In this game you just need to honk at the right moment to win. Seems pretty simple, but took me some time to get done.

Last Devlog bugged

I don’t know why but the last devlog bugged out and I sent it off before I finished writing it.

Now I have made some really minor fixes to make this devlog but am still wondering how to fix others.

But here are new features I added since the actual last devlog:

  • Music: implemented actual warioware music, which did fit perfectly. It works perfect in godot, but I don’t know why, it doesn’t in the browser all the time - I have no idea how to fix that.

  • Randomisation: Minigames now come in a random order and some minigames have variation - such as don’t press (length), annoy the human (click amount) and flappy goose (points amount). Oh, and you can’t get the same minigame back to back.

  • Better Organisation: Changed the organisation of folders, scenes, etc. to be better bc it was a full nightmare before. Took longer than expected because it messed all the dependencies up - but I think it works now.

  • New Minigame: Don’t Click - or else…. Also made some new art for this minigame which turned out great once again imo!

Thanks for checking this devlog out, idk why that before happened but well yeah.

Finally continued working on the game!! Made a flappy bird-like game - which took me way too long because I had many difficulties spawning in the chimneys. And also drawing the sprites took quite some time but I think it was definitely worth it - I am really happy with them :yipee:

GablOS ship#2

Crazy how long ago the last ship was, but since then I have added a bunch of new features, implemented a lot of feedback and fiexed a lot of bugs and weird stuff.

This Website is a bit of a personal site or portfolio that has like a really interesting desing because it’s not like the usual website but built up like a simple OS that has clickable App icons that open windows and such. Now the site is finally also useable on mobile devices and yeah, all in all I am really satisfied with how it turned out.

https://www.gabl.works

Features (newly added in bold):

  • Top-Bar that displays Time - which can cycle through 12- and 24 hour format by clicking on it

  • Welcome Screen

  • About Me - including Social links

  • Art - much different Art created by me

  • Games - display of games I have worked on

  • Browser - linking sites created by me

  • Music Player - plays some songs friends made or that got used in games

  • Bottom-“bar” with a home-button which has a surprise upon clicking (; and music button to open the music-player

  • Smooth animations for windows

  • Adaptation for mobile devices and useable scaling

  • Custom domain

Last Devlog before ship#2

Well, since last time I have really been cleaning up things.

I created icons for the bottom “taskbars” and also created a new favicon yet again lol. Furthermore fixed some weird glitches and optimized the website more for mobile.

Then also made many little css changes that I don’t remember all of anymore - but everything looks somewhat good and I am very pleased with the website so far. Aditionally made a little surprise when you click on the home-button in the bottom “taskbar” for you to find out (;.

All in all just much cleanup and little changes for ship number 2.

I did a lot of smaller fixes since last time, now windows have a pop in, and pop out animation AND the music player is back! I created a split taskbar that also has like the button for the music app and also made all of this mobile friendly - at least I hope. Not much left to do anymore for this project! Really happy how it is turning out!

Implementing Feedback

So, since I have already shipped this project once - quite some time ago now, I have gotten some reviews and many seem to point out the same issue. The hitbox of the close button from every window is very weird. And yeah, that is - or better was true, since I managed to fix it.
Additionally I added transitions for the window-dragging and also the option to change the timeformat from a 24 hour one to a 12 hour one by clicking on the time.

I know the music app still isn’t back and I will get to that soon - hopefully.
Have a great day, thanks for stopping by!

Finally also made the Website usable on mobile and still making it look good. Worked with the @ media screen in css which turned out to be wayy easier than I expected. Even tho I ran into some issues getting cut off the bottom part of my site often due to the mobile navigation button - but managed to fix that too. I think it turned out awesome.

So, I drew Icons for both browser and trashcan, I also redesigned my favicon, still not totally happy with it but it wlll work eventually lol. Then made a browser app, (made some mockups first) where you can check out websites I created. For now it replaces the Music player icon, I will add the music player back asap, but for now it stays like that since I want the music player to be at another spot.

Fred-Bot

Fred-Bot is a really simple slack-bot that got me to know the basics of bot-creation with javascript.

Managed to finally get the bot to work. Had quite the difficulties managing nest, and making sure the bot would run 24/7.

Command List

| Command | Description |
| /fred-bot-ping | Check bot latency |
| /fred-bot-help | Get a list of all available commands |
| /fred-bot-catfact | Get a random cat fact |
| /fred-bot-joke | Get a random joke |
| /fred-bot-cipher | Decodes/Encodes text with the Ceasar Cipher 3 |

Continued working on the bot and added a new command:

/fred-bot-cipher

  • a ceasar cipher that encodes/decodes your text with the shift of 3.

Made a detection to see if the correct text was provided for it to work.
Example: /fred-bot-cipher decode Hello

Added a custom domain and more!!!

First of all I added some new Art, Games and such I have created since first making this website -
then also created the custom domain, with which I had some issues but managed to get it working.

I will continue working on this site as part of the WebOS 2 Mission and already have some plans I want to do:

  • A fake Internet Explorer with my own Websites
  • A Paper Bin with abandoned Ideas and so on
  • Change the taskbar
  • changing the Music player to a small Icon in taskbar
  • add sfx
  • try out the in some app

Hope I can get These done, see you next time! (the image is a rough sketch of what I have in mind)

SpaceSign

Get signs from Space (or rather from NASA) that update every day. This website fetches nasa’s astronomy picture of the day and displays its title, image and a short description/explenation.

Other than the guide, I implemented that you can select previous dates to get the information about them. Also the .css styling is different to the guide because I wanted to try out some .css styling that I learned from doing the WebOS Mission.

What I noticed: Its sooo much faster to properly make a sketch beforehand of how you want to get the layout than doing it on the fly.

Started customisation by making by own favicon – not sure if
displaying it works correctly tho rn. Also implemented the calendar that I
tried to already do last time, but I couldn’t get it to work, which was because
I set the date to the future where NASA obviously didn’t have something in the
api lol. Thats why I also made it so that you can’t select dates in the future
to avoid confusion. Then I started on the css, found a website that did let me make
nice gradients, fits pretty well imo. Also used some css styling I found out
while doing the WebOS mission, such as backdrop-filter, box-shadow and hover. Important lesson I learned: Its sooo much faster to properly make a sketch beforehand of how you want to get the layout then doing it on the fly.

Following the tutorial I managed to connect the API to my .js even tho I had some dfficulties getting Node.js to work because my device just wouldn’t register it. But now that I got it working, the site simply displays the information from Nasa same as the image and title.
