Hi there, my name is Mathilde (yes, I know it is pretty cool to have the same name as such a cool thing). I always loved tech, but my interests changed, specifically for programming. That happened 4 years ago, after I changed schools (I am in a different country so maybe we have different school systems). I finally had the chance to get knowledge. I learn a lot by myself, so yes, there are going to be a lot of mistakes. Please be kind. I am a huge fan of the universe, space, tech and art. Thanks for your comments and your likes.
PS: English is not my natural language, so that's why I have to use interpreters and stuff (sometimes AI), but I NEVER use it in my code.

So, here is finally a DEVLOG that logs over an hour of work. I did my best today, but unfortunately I’m typing only with my left hand as a right‑handed person because of a small accident. Yaayyyy (the universe is really not on my side).I can now finally drag the two windows separately (that didn’t work yesterday), and I can close them. I’m not sure if it’s supposed to do nothing when I click the “Open” button. For better understanding:
Yellow is for dragging, red for closing, and green for opening.I think I have another bug, because when I click on the app icon, nothing happens. If you have any idea what might be wrong, please help me in the comments or on Slack.I also wanted to work on the README today, but I’m not sure how long I can keep typing with my left hand. We’ll see. I’m trying my best here — thanks for reading all of this.

So, I added the three little symbols at the top, and I started working on my app.
Right now it looks the same as the welcome screen, but I’m going to change that tomorrow. My plan for tomorrow is to finish my first app and maybe even start working on the final README (you know — the banner and everything).

So, I did the JS and the HTML for the close and open feature. I also changed the graphic of the handle.
I’m really sorry that I only log such short sessions, but I currently don’t have much time for coding and can only squeeze in short amounts of time.

Guys, I finally got it! A big thank you to @nokira. I needed a bit more time to fix everything, but yeah — there were some more mistakes that I finally started to correct. I still need to fix a few things, like the graphics and the z-index, but I’m sooo happy that it finally works!!!!

So I organized the code and changed some stuff. It still looks the same ( when you just check the site but the code is different) and I am going to upgrade this when I am done with my OS!

So I started the third tutorial.I am at the part where you should be able to drag your window. The code is from the tutorial ,so it should work but I think that I have done something wrong because as you can see nothing happens.I am on the go right now and maybe I can squeze some time for programming in later.I have my code updated in my github thing ( it is linked in the project I think) .Could someone help me please.I am really new with JS and I do not have enough time right now to start from the starting point.Because I am in a rush I do not have time to correct this text .I am really sorry for my grammar and all this stuff.

So, what have I changed?
First, I changed the heading because the “S” looked like an “f,” which would completely change the purpose of the website — I just noticed that, hahaha! Imagine if I had shipped it like that in the final version. Anyway, I also added that cute cursor (it’s a tiny Tinkerbell). I loved this idea the most because it lets me make my website both modern and whimsical. If you don’t know who Tinkerbell is: she’s a cartoon character from a kids’ series who lives with other fairies and struggles to find her powers. I thought it would be fun to combine her with Peter Pan — also a children’s story about a dream world where Peter Pan secretly visits kids at night and they all fly through the sky to a magical place . I didn’t watch the Peter Pan series as a child, but I read the books, so I chose Tinkerbell because I could picture her better in my head. Maybe we just pretend they got married. Why am I talking so much about these characters? Because my whole OS is meant to match that vibe — so you can understand why there’s a random fairy on a modern site. I’ll make it easier to get what this OS is about as I go further with the project (you know, adding features like a calculator, etc.).I also added my favorite feature again: a new highlight color! That ugly blue is finally gone from this beautiful site. I linked my profile at the top too, so you can click on my name now. I mean, if you’re going to include info on a site, you might as well do it right and add a bit more about yourself than just your name.So yeah, that’s my desktop for now. I’m going to work on the README today too. I wanted to get further today, but I think it’s okay — you know how much time I spent on this.Thank you for reading all of that and for your interest in my project!

Hi! So I already had the code in my last update here, but I finally changed the graphics and the design. I’m not finished with the desktop yet (don’t worry, I know how it looks!), but I just wanted to give you a quick update.

Okay, soo. I just read the second tutorial and literally made it the same as in the tutorial. I knew I wasn’t supposed to do that. Yes, I’m changing it in a second. I’m just brainstorming a bit and sorting out my ideas for the design because my last project had that Y2K vibe (iykyk), but now I want something cleaner — not like those old, ugly operating systems back in the day. Still, it should keep some of those nostalgic vibes, you know? I can’t really explain it better. So yeah, I think I’ll need about an hour or two — let’s see if the universe is on my side and I find the graphics I want quickly! And guys, I’m suffering — I miss my Windows 11 from home, but I think I just need a little more time to get used to Windows 10 on this laptop. I don’t really have a choice since it’s just me and my laptop for the next month. Also, I registered for this chat thing (I forgot the name) and got nothing. Like, how many chats exist on this planet? But I think I’ll get through it tonight. :)

Guys, this has been so hard. And I don’t mean the project — I mean the file.
I know that no one is going to read this, but I want to share my struggle so that my hard work has a reason.I just finished my first project, which I did with the VS app. But now I needed to open a new project — after half an hour, I somehow managed it (still don’t know how). Could somebody explain that to me?Then the Hackatime tool stopped working, and Stardance couldn’t find my file. So I decided to switch to my laptop because I hadn’t installed the app there yet, and I already knew what to do from my first project. I needed everything on my laptop anyway because of the holidays, etc.My laptop only runs Windows 10, so everything took ten times longer. After that, I had to delete some apps because of storage issues. As you can see, it just kept getting more complicated.I finally did it — after six hours, without appreciation (you know, from Stardust…) and actually crying twice because I already had code, but it was gone.I don’t want to annoy you with my problems. That’s my site for now. Please don’t judge — I’m following the tutorial, and I’m going to add beauty to it at the end when the code is finished. I already have so many ideas.I’m giving my best and forcing myself to keep going. In my country, there’s a saying:
„Wo ein Wille ist, ist auch ein Weg“, which basically means if you truly want something, there’s a way to get it.I’m so exhausted because I find all this installing, updating, and setup stuff just so boring.A devlog with my to-dos is coming tomorrow or on Friday because I’m getting my school report card tomorrow — wish me luck! And here’s a screenshot of my really ugly site at the moment.
If you read this whole thing: thanks for listening to all my yapping .💗💗💗💗

I made a website about myself. I found it pretty hard to keep everything organized inside the div containers because my layout is quite full. Most of the time I used an interpreter, which made things a bit harder, but I think it really helped me to get back into the language in the context of programming.

I had so much fun.

For my project, there’s one thing you should definitely try: please highlight a piece of text. I know it’s such a small amount of code and such a simple feature, but I just love it so much.

Also, please check out all the little details I added. Working on this project reminded me how much I missed programming. I hope I’ll make more projects now that school is finally over. The rest of my website is pretty self‑explanatory.

I typed this message myself in English, but I corrected it with AI, so please understand that. I did not use AI in my code.

We’re now at the end of our project. I made the README really long (don’t worry — if you only want single elements from my site, just scroll down; there are lots of links). I hope you like it, and I’ll definitely make more projects. This one was just to get back into programming

I just finished my README! I did my best to explain everything — hope you like it! I literally wrote it three times because I’m too dumb to save things 😭😭. If you have any questions, just leave a comment and I’ll try my best to help you!

Hi, I really locked in and made the website! I know it’s not perfect, but all I need are a few size adjustments and some picture changes. I’m not so sure about that big doll picture (I hope you know which one I mean) in the middle of the container. Do you have any ideas on what might look better, or should I leave it as it is? I also need to update my README, but I’m not sure if I’ll have enough time today.
