For this project, I built Hackpad, a custom 3-key media macropad powered by a Seeed Studio XIAO RP2040 microcontroller and running KMK keyboard firmware. The hardware features a custom-routed PCB housed in a compact, 3D-printed enclosure that is securely assembled using durable M3 screws and brass heatset inserts. On the software side, the main challenge was optimizing the code syntax in VS Code and fine-tuning the framework's Tap Dance module. I am most proud of maximizing efficiency by mapping six full media functions (Volume Up/Down, Mute, Play/Pause, Next, and Previous Track) onto just three physical switches, creating a highly portable, durable device that works automatically on any computer via USB-C.
