Coding Companion is an AI-powered coding tutor that personalizes learning based on each learner’s skills, progress, and past mistakes. It guides learners to solve problems independently instead of simply giving them answers.

Ship #1 Pending review

1. What did I make?

I built Coding Companion, an AI-powered coding mentor that helps beginners understand programming instead of simply generating code for them. It combines an AI chat interface, interactive coding workspace, user authentication, and a backend designed to support personalized learning.

2. What was challenging?

The biggest challenge was connecting the frontend, backend, database, authentication, and AI model into one working application. Debugging integration issues and learning full-stack development while building the product made the process even more challenging.

3. What I am proud of?

I’m proud of turning an idea into a functioning full-stack application. More importantly, I built it with a clear purpose: helping beginners genuinely understand code rather than depend on AI-generated solutions.

4. What You should know?

  1. Open Coding Companion using the project link.
  2. Create an account or sign in.
  3. Ask the AI mentor programming-related questions.
  4. Try the coding workspace, attach code, and test code insertion.

An internet connection and an account are required. Feedback on the teaching experience, usability, and bugs is especially welcome.

Getting Coding Companion Ready to Ship 🚀

Coding Companion is finally taking shape.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been working on turning the original idea into a working product. The core application is deployed, authentication and chat are integrated, and the Code Stream feature is working.

One of the biggest improvements recently was refining the Teaching Brain — the part responsible for how Coding Companion teaches. I added structured teaching instructions to help it adapt explanations, encourage problem-solving, identify mistakes, and build on a learner’s understanding.

Of course, getting something working is different from getting it ready for real users. I’ve also been testing the application, fixing deployment issues, and improving the authentication flow.

What’s next?

I’m preparing to put Coding Companion in front of students and see how they actually respond to it.

I want to learn from real usage, understand what works, identify what doesn’t, and improve the product based on feedback rather than assumptions.

This is an early step, not the finish line.

Time to get Coding Companion out there! 💻🔥

Here’s what I’ve been working on:
1.Implemented semantic search using embeddings.
2.Integrated MongoDB Atlas Vector Search.
3.Tested retrieval with different coding questions and pushed the work to GitHub.

Next, I’m working on connecting the Context Builder with the AI teaching system.
Still learning, still building. More updates soon! 🚀 👋 👋
