Polishing Slack Onboarding

Builds were failing because the e2e tests were failing, so I removed them since I didn’t think e2e tests were even needed. In the current form, they broke at the slightest change of any on the site since everything from class names to even the text that it was searching for on the page was hard coded, and the site wasn’t very big so features could be manually tested by a human instead of using an automated browser.

Cyn reached out to me asking for help in polishing his Slack Onboarding project that teaches people unfamiliar with Slack. His goal was to shorten the amount of text the reader has to read and make the experiences as easy as possible for the user to get through. I removed the eyebrow text and the hint because the site already highlights what it wants the user to click, and the “your task” section already states what the user should do. There’s no need for a “need a hint” section. This cleans up the modal so that it’s easier for the user to parse and recognize what they should pay attention to. The site also keeps track of what lessons have already been completed, so when you refresh the page, it doesn’t restart from scratch. I removed that feature so that in the future, people can come back to do the Slack tutorial again. Attached is a before (the first picture) and an after (the second picture) so that you can see the difference. The second one (the after picture) is much cleaner and has less text for the user to read, making it easier to understand what to do next.
