I just wired up the first prototype of my new project–a mouse that uses a joystick and buttons just like Lenovo ThinkPad TrackPoint, for use in spaces where a traditional mouse would not have enough freedom of movement.
The reason I am building this is because, in most of my classes in high school, a laptop is required. However, I don’t want to use the trackpad, and the mouse that I bring usually doesn’t get enough space to move around on my small desk. So I am creating this project to help me use my laptop better and more conveniently at school.
In addition to wiring up my first prototype, I also CADded up a first prototype for the 3D-printed frame the components are going to rest on. (It isn’t going to last long if it stays taped onto a folded index card!) Hopefully in the next devlog I will have printed the frame and maybe even mounted the parts to it!
