DEVLOG 3
In this devlog, I mainly worked on the challenge system of GameQuest.
I made it possible to create challenges for different games and give each challenge a type. I also worked on the system where a player can submit a screenshot as evidence after completing a challenge.
I then connected the evidence system with the verification process, so a completed challenge doesn’t immediately give XP.
Instead, it goes into Pending Verification, where it can be reviewed and either approved or rejected by the user rn.
I also made sure that approving a challenge gives the correct amount of XP, while rejecting it doesn’t give any XP.
This part honestly took more time than I expected because I kept running into small bugs while connecting the frontend and backend. At one point, even the Approve button and evidence viewer weren’t working properly, so I had to go back, find what was causing the problem, and fix it.
By the end, I had a working basic verification system.
However, while testing it, I realised that this is still not enough to make the system truly secure. A screenshot is evidence, but it doesn’t automatically prove that the challenge was actually completed. That’s something I want to work on next. This same thing I will try to complete in devlog 4.
As u all know about my project GameQuest . I have finally completed the MY GAMES section of my app and have given it as much functionality as i could.
Only styling it with css is left.
For now I am focusing on the functionality of my app and will definitely make it prettier in the coming time.
For now , I am using Python , Html , JS and CSS for the project.
In the next devlog I will be working on MY CHALLENGES section.
So, for the past few days I have been working on GameQuest, a desktop game-tracking app.
I first set up the basic files and got the Python and HTML/JavaScript parts connected.
I made it such that I can add games and save them, and they stay saved even after closing the app. I also added buttons to delete a game and open it.
When I open a game, it now shows its name, XP and level. It is still pretty basic right now and the design is not done because I wanted to get the main things working first.
I also had a few problems while making it, especially with connecting the Python backend to JavaScript, but I fixed them.
In the next devlog I will be working on actually earning XP and making the levels work.
