Wlcm back to Ani-Pad. I will be keeping this devlog rly short as I am very Tired today, so i only worked for abt 20 mins. What I did was arrange the diodes according to the design though I changed the position of the upper 2 diodes. You can see the current pcb layout below.
Now I gotta learn how to route a pcb
Wlcm back to Anipad. So yesterdayy I did the final design and thinking what it should be. Soo today what I have done is I finally tried to replicate the design onto the PCB builder. So I have arranged all the components, as you can see in the image attached below, in the proper order and the layout that I have finalized on the paper while designing the Anipad.
Mostly, I just need to make some accurate symmetric distances now. It’s mostly all done, just some distance adjustment, so I can just properly select the part of the cutting about the size that I am planning for. About thats all I need to do rnn (also placing the diodes
), after that, I will just start the routing, and my PCB will be done soon. After that, I will be doing the case building, then comes the firmware. That’s pretty much it.
Wlcm back to Anirpad. So like I mentioned in the last devlog, this devlog, I am mostly focused on finalizing what is my orientation layout and design of the actual PCB and the actual Hackpad will be.
Sooo I mostly designed this orientation. There’s the rotatory encoder in the corner, then there’s a four by four, switch groups you can say ig & Overall, this design, I was like, “Ywahh, this is how my Hackpad is going to look,” after rejecting quite a few designs that I drew up.
Then after finalizing this idea, then I just tried to draw it in a much more proper way. Yeah, I haven’t used a scale though, so the drawing may look pretty bad. But yeah, bro, it’s pretty good considering that I haven’t used any scale. It was just my hand and pencil and paper.
Wlcm back to Anipad. So I’ve done quite some work on the PCB. First of all, I linked all the footprints. It took me quite a while to find because I wasn’t that familiar with the KiCad software. So then I looked up some repos of past works that have been already submitted into Stardance for the Hackpad mission. And after looking into their KiCad files, I finally got what are the exact names for the footprints. So I linked the footprints to the schematic symbols and then started placing it on the main PCB builder. Right now, I have aligned them into a basic grid. I think so. I’m not that good at using it yet. So I just have tried my best to align it, but it’s not proper yet. But this is the basic grid and I have put all the diodes just beside them (the switches).
I’m right now thinking about the proper design I could make for the pcb shape & component placement. I did this to get more familiar with how to exactly place them. And Rnn if I want to, I can just wire it up, but I will probably just add some more design variation and change the placement of the switches rather than keeping it just a simple grid. And that’s what I mainly plan over here. So this was the devloggg. Ywahh, I know it’s pretty short
Welcome back to AniPad. So what I basically did was I finally thought of what my keypad is consisting of as for the parts that I have finalized, I will be using about 12 switches. Yup, all the switches that are included in the kit and one of those rotatory switch or whatever that encoder stuff is. Ywahh, that rotatory component. I think so you understand what I meant, that thing. And I’m still not sure about the OLED, so I haven’t linked it into my schematic yet.
So I don’t really know if I’m doing things right. I have also put up a post in Slack, so let’s see if there are any changes that I need to do on my existing schematic, and I will decide whether or not to include the OLED in the next dev log or next sprint, you can say.
Welcome to the first devlog of AniPad. So AniPad, is a hack pad mission project that is basically aiming to make a hack pad, which has an anime based based design (like on the case or probably i will use some stickers).
As for what I did was I didn’t really know anything about PCBs or models or anything at all. So what I did first was, I downloaded the apps mentioned in the guide, and then I watched some YouTube video and tried to build along the YouTube video, trying to first get to know how KiCad really works. And so I have built a 3x3 switch matrix schematic.
After that, what I did next was I tried to design. I’ve made that 3x3 matrix so I could at least know how to use the KiCad software and get some hands-on experience as to how it really works. So now what I thought is let’s now come up with my own layout as for how I am going to have my actual hack pad to be. So I was just brainstorming a design. So after that, what I did was I made the design on a paper sheet, and then I replicated it on my tablet. Because if it’s on tablet, then it’s more easier to see the symmetricalness because when I tried it on paper, it was pretty hard for me to draw them in the same size because I didn’t really have a scale on my hand right now.
So ywah, I just shifted to my tablet after I had the rough idea of how it should look on a paper sheet. I have also attached the tablet drawing, which I did in the lapse. And after the lapse, I also wrote what are the main instructions. So it’s basically the mostly like a design sheet for my project. I have also wrote all the things that I have to keep in mind, what are the things like get parts, etc. btw I’m not really sure about this design yet. btw in the next dev log, I will most probably be finalizing a design, and after that, I will be starting working on the actual schematics and etc, based on how I am going to make the project.
That’s basically it in this devlog. TYSMMM for Reading :)
