Today’s Progress: Weight Reduction & Internal Storage
Today’s focus was entirely on preparing the main fuselage for its internal components. I spent the session hollowing out the core fuselage section.
Why this was necessary:
Weight Management: In RC aviation, every gram counts. Hollowing out the solid structure significantly reduces the airframe’s overall weight, which will lower the stall speed and improve flight efficiency.
Component Housing: The G700 has a sleek profile, meaning space is at a premium. Creating a hollow internal cavity is essential to house the electronics, including the receiver, ESCs, servos, and the battery pack.
Challenges & Techniques
Maintaining structural integrity while removing material is a delicate balance. I had to ensure the fuselage walls remained thick enough to withstand aerodynamic forces during high-speed passes and landings, while still maximizing internal volume.
I am working on making the fuselage aka the main body of my RC Plane. today I built the front back and cylindrical area in 3 different pieces so it fits on the printer. I will continue to work on wings and other areas
