Instagram doesn’t give you a direct way to see who doesn’t follow you back, so I built a tool to do it for me — mainly Python and SQL, tracking contacts in a local database and running the analysis automatically. From there I’m slowly expanding into broader analysis, beyond just checking follow-backs. The main advantage over the online tools that do something similar: it all runs locally, so I’m not handing my Instagram data over to a third-party service, on top of saving the time of a manual check. It’s one of my first serious projects, and I’m only posting it now, after months of work, because I only just found out Stardance existed. Latest changes: fixed a circular import between a couple of files, and cleaned up the error handling. It can also handle huge amounts of data without hogging resources, since both reads and writes are streamed.
