What if the terminal is the OS and much more than a terminal?
What if the terminal is the OS and much more than a terminal?
After a grand total of three hours (consisting of stumbling through the inner workings of Svelte and TypeScript & transfering a good batch of code from TermTab), I finally got the terminal input, the main input device, and the Terminal app, showing terminal history, working. There aren’t any commands yet, so you can have fun click-clacking away while getting errors for the rest of time™.
Worked on a variety of tidbits today, especially thinking more about how the UI would be laid out. Currently, there will be a top bar with system & app items plus the current date and time. The “desktop” will have the terminal as its default, but apps can override the space (switch between apps using ctrl + `). A single-line terminal input is always at the bottom so the user can open/close apps, and call CLI-only applications.
Anyways heres the code for an incomplete keyboard manager, which handles the keyboard in a very similar way to TermTab:
