Improved performance

After I ran the Lighthouse analytics, I realized that my webOS loaded too slowly, so I decided to fix it: removed the font awesome script and instead used svg tags for icons, compressed all teh big images, used defer on heavy scripts, removed teh custom cursor since the diamond sword was too heavy for a cursor.

I improved my WebOS:

I had to improve the CSS and replace all the images since they were AI-generated. Now, the website loads much faster and the code is cleaner.

I build WayneWebOS!

It’s a webos with 8 apps, toolbar, time & date UI, battery, and security indicators. There is a menu app where u can open all otehr apps:

  • To Do
  • Settings (customization)
  • Notepad
  • Gallery
  • Calculator
  • Console
  • Clock
  • Browser
All apps are working and feature basic functionality.

The most challenging part was making a Notepad and Clock app. I used Quill library for formatting in notepad and both timer and countdown took more several hours to make each. I rewrote the logic manu times, used Qwen for helping me find the right methods, then coded everything myself.

I’m proud of building such a huge functionable webos myself in pure HTML/CSS/JS. I really leveled up my JavaScript skills thanks to this project.

I want people to test every app and its basic functionality, click every button. Test layout. Important note: the webos is not meant to be responsive, so test it only on desktop devices! Enjoy! :]

I finished my WebOS!

The latest apps I added were Console, Calculator, and Gallery. Also, I had to compress the images, because they slowed down the website too much. Now it’s a fully functional webos with 8 apps, plus I added Settings for customization, there are 3 themes and u can change layout. Enjoy! ;]

Browser, Settings, and Notepad!

my webOS is expanding with new features: browser uses Programmable Searcj Engine by Goggle, which is simple and effective and I can choose which sources it can display. Settings allows cutomization - 3 themes & colors and 2 layouts. Notepad uses Quill for formatting.

also, u can now try the webOS live: https://wayne-14e.github.io/WebOS/

to be continued…

I’ve started building my webOS!

I wanted to make look like an actual OS, so I added a date and clock + battery and safety indicator at the top. The battery will have a lightning emoji (⚡) when it’s charging and if it’s below 40% it will change to 🪫. So far only TO DO app is working. It’s draggable, you can add as many tasks as you wish and mark them complete or delete them.

Next up: browser, terminal, and so fourth!

I finished my personal website by making it responsive and enhancing the design.

The most challenging part was the CSS. I had this problem when the page starts scrolling horizontally as I shrink it. I tried everything (except AI): deleted different code blocks, rewrote different properties. Eventually, I found it: a simple align-items: center. Bruh…. Then everuthing worked fine, but I still wrote overflow-x:hidden just in case…

I’m really proud of the end result - clean, modern, adaptive, funny, and personal.

Test it by trying it on different devices and finding some quirky layouts on some device sizes (which shouldn’t exist hopefully).

Responsiveness: ON

I made my personal portfolio website responsive, so u can now use it more comfortably on mobile or tablet devices. Also added some emojis to the design of the page and designed a logo in Figma.

I created a simple personal portfolio website using HTML, CSS, and some JS.

The most challenging part was creating a custom grid in hobbies & interests section - 2 columns, 2 blocks in one row and another block takes two rows. At first, I looked at documentation, but didn’t find what i needed. There are so many grid properties! Eventually, I asked DeepSeek to show me an example of how to make it and adapted it to my project.

I’m really proud of what I made. I think it’s very creative, especially the last section. I’m pretty sure whoever opens it will LOL! That’s exactly what my goal was - to tell about myself in a funny way.

One thing I still need to work on is responsiveness, but the rest of the features are working and u can test them.

Finished desktop layout of my personal website. The last section is where I used some Java Script and it’s the funniest part of the website (increase volume when going to the last section….)

only mobile responsiveness is left…

Almost done! I was really trying to make it personal, so I chose the theme of my favourite video game Minecraft and combined it with coding vibes. Hope u will enjoy it and we share some things in common.

it’s not fully ready yet: there are only 2 sections and it’s not responsive, but it won’t take too long…

I built Lexicon AI, a free AI-powered vocabulary journal for IELTS and IELTS students. Instead of manually writing definitions, synonyms, and example sentences, users can generate them with AI by extracting words from documents and studying with flashcards and games.

The hardest part was making the AI reliable. I ran into almost every Gemini API error imaginable (429, 503, 400, 404…). To solve this, I built automatic API key rotation and model fallback, so the app tries multiple API keys and multiple Gemini models before giving up.

I’m proud that I built the entire product from scratch with very little prior experience and that nearly 30 people are already using it.

When testing, please try the AI features, like document upload, context passage, and Lexy assistant. I’d also appreciate if you try to break the app - whether that’s finding security issues, unexpected bugs, or edge cases. If you find anything, please report it using the airtable feedback form.

During the OpenAI Build Week, I was so excited to participate and build something useful. Although I couldn’t find much time (as I’m preparing for SAT), I still built a project called DesmosGPT. Imagine: you’re solving a math question and want to find the fastest way - take a screenshot, paste it into DesmosGPT, and AI guides you through a step-by-step explanation in Desmos.

Since I didn’t have much time, the AI is not capable of solving all sorts of SAT Math problems. I used retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and there are currently only 4 techniques, but stay tuned! It will gradually get smarter!

here’s a 3-minute YouTube demo link: https://youtu.be/7O1br3ZgFjs?si=wO92X5-bvNxdatCr

Hello Dev Log 1! For the past 7 months, I was working on Lexicon AI and recently added some new features, like a Referral Bonus to earn free tokens for you and your friend, a “Get a hint” button that shows you a sentence so you don’t guess a word but try to understand it from context, like in the SAT! And of course - security: RLS policies and a serverless Edge function (backend API) for more secure AI generation. Looking for early testers and feedback!
