Added a readme and demo video. Project is done!
I’m finally back to this project! I took a looooong break but now it’s done! Now the board has actual code.
At first, I used homeassistant as a middleman in order to send commands to the speaker, but a) it wasn’t working very reliably, and b) not very many people have a homeassistant server running, so they wouldn’t be able to run this project. After that, I changed it to just use the Spotify API. There was one problem though: The spotify API by itself can’t wake up an Alexa speaker from sleep. In order to get around this, I used the voicemonkey API as a way of triggering actions directly on the Alexa to start the playback. After that, all the logic is handled by direct Spotify API calls.
I had to resolder a lot of the board unfortunately because I realized I screwed up the wiring. I also got the case made in Onshape and I’m about to print it.
Thought I got all the soldering right the first time, turns out I didn’t. Had to redo basically all the wiring but now it works at least.
Managed to get (hopefully) all the soldering done and not burn the house down. Very simple soldering, just three pins, but still managed to make it difficult.
