I implemented tone.js. It was much faster than my other things—the only problem was needing a buffer between notes. But now I have to work on UI :( and adding more advanced features. (I also began to work on adding bpm and a import score feature but they are not finished yet)
I fixed the problem that I had with eighth notes by switching from using /e to /8 in vexflow. I am still having some problems with width, but overall it is much better. That is why I decided to start working on adding sound. My basic implementation of Tone.js is working very well currently. The Press to Play button plays the sound. I need to work on more features to make the website easier to use now.
I still cannot figure out how to fix my problem with eighth notes not working. I have tried editing the width values (which fixed the cut off early issue), removing Math.floors in some parts of my code, and more. I also added a clear local storage button for the score for ease of use. I will continue to test to fix the eighth notes.
I was able to get the scores to persist on screen. I also was able to add multiple measures to my list of notes without the program crashing, after a bunch of debugging. Currently, I was testing have different lengths for the measures and am having problems with the notes appearing on screen. I was trying to test changing x and width values but that did not work. The built in formatter in vexflow worked a bit better but my score and notes keep getting squished and cut off randomly.
I added a system so the script I am using can actually take in the values the user has inputted. The script can also use this input to create an output of 1 measure of the user input before the program will crash. Another problem is that the 1 measure only appears on screen for a second before it goes away. I will fix these two issues later.
I worked for a while on coding my slackbot and setting it up for the guide. One things I was originally trying to code was a slash command where the bot would return a message after an inputted time. This did not end up working because the bot would be entirely taken up by one message and then crash. Instead, I created an “echo” slash command where the bot immediately returns this message.
I have not worked on creating a website in a very long time. That is why I focused on creating some buttons that send data to my program, and I also found two libraries that I will most likely use: vexflow.js and Tone.js
