Improved the demo scene so it represents the actual game better and I can work on making the graphics good.

OH MY GOODNESS I FINALLY GOT IT WORKING
I finally figured out (with the help of claude) where the bug was and I fixed it (myself). Now I can actually see the world instead of just a screen full of sky!
I improved the documentation in the readme and I fixed a bunch of issues related to finished projects and duplicate titles. I worked significantly more than 25 minutes on this but I was using ssh to remotely develop and I only installed hackatime on vscodium since I don’t want all my terminal time to count for stuff.
I added a command for when you are done and don’t need help anymore. I also changed the channel to #get-help-with-projects instead of #help-with-projects (see demo link for channel link)
I made a Slack bot!
It helps people find help with their code. You can find it on this slack channel:
https://hackclub.enterprise.slack.com/archives/C0C85PUG7AB
Every hour, it posts what people want help with, and you can add things to the list using commands!
I finished the server and test client!!!!!!!!!
I am very happy, if it isn’t obvious by the number of exclamation points in the top line of this devlog.
I finally finished the main part, now I can use this myself and implement clients for whatever I want.
Also, I added a debug mode to help with client development.
Finished server code for now- now to make a testing client to make sure it works!
I am almost done with the project. For this devlog, I mainly fixed a bunch of errors found by AI (even if it doesn’t code the best, it can still find mistakes after all it’s pretty much just a lot of pattern detection) and fixed them(myself, not with AI). Next, I will make a simple CLI test/demo client to make sure it works.
Redesigned protocol to be more extensible without modifying the server much.
Started work on the actual server code!
Made it more secure and added a version number to the protocol. Next thing to do: the server code!
Documented the TCP protocol and request types.
Started making the protocol.
I am making the protocol first so I know exactly what to program and custom clients can easily be made.
Got the 3d texture set up but not working… Help wanted!
I got the 3D texture working, but I just see a screen full of sky. I am going to work on debugging it myself, but if you want to look at the code and you see something weird, I would like to know.
Did some optimizations, discarded some to do later instead, kept 1, and started work on sending world data from CPU.
Note: No git commit for this one because I need to finish the code for tracking the world on the CPU, but there’s a good idea of what I’m doing in the screenshot!
Refractions, Reflection, and Skybox
I added refractions, reflections, and a skybox. I also made the camera move. The next steps for the project are lighting, optimizing the shader for performance(so I can have a reasonable render distance because 64 looks like a lot but the player is actually 8 blocks wide because this game is more detailed than Minecraft), and sending the world data from the CPU instead of generating it while rendering.
I finally got a start to ray tracing!
The game is finally rendering using raytracing, although it’s currently very minimal and for some reason there’s a blue bar on the left. If anyone can help figure out why, it would be much appreciated.
The Test Triangle
Look! A triangle! (This is a very common test to make sure a graphics library works)
Finally got the window drawing! (WGPU is hard)
