Just finished the 3D model of my macropad of the keyswitches. Im unsure if ill add the 3d models of the rotary encoders with it too but that will be a later problem lol. I tried fiddling with the footprint libraries in KiCad but couldn’t get the switch to save the Cherry MX step file. So I just manually but the step file in for each individual key switch and but the model for the board as well. After all that I’m finally ready to get a 3D printerd case going which will take a while. I’m thinking ill make it themed on my favorite album Currents by Tame impala so excited to see how that will turn out!

Finished my first ever PCB finally! I learned a lot in this process even though its literally the most basic PCB macropad you can do lol. I learned how the electronics work together/ how to tracing in between the footprints. I learned how important it was to align + organize everything accordingly so that your tracing can be done super easily. I also got to learn how to debug a little as I couldn’t trace my rotary encoders because my KB2040 did not have the right pads assigned to it in the footprint so I had to learn how to use footprint editor. Now Im really excited for the next steps and especially the cad as thats where I get to be really creative.
