Made a macropad! Did not expect to suffer so much. I genuinely think engineering is just a measure of how many small problems you can tolerate before you combust. This took wayy more than 2.5 hours I just did not know how to use either Lapse or Hackatime and I suffered quite a lot off camera.
PCB wasn’t that bad. I still have no idea how KiCad does any sort of positioning (from where in the object is the position calculated?? why is it so different across objects?? why does align just never work???), and it’s also deeply wonky switching back and forth from KiCad to Altium for different projects. It’s really nice not having to worry about any complications (signal processing, hunting down or making 3D models, etc) with wiring for once.
CAD went alright! I feel like you notice a lot of fun quality of life features that Fusion is missing when you start doing CAD for a bit. I’d love to be able to group objects or parts of a sketch and have them behave the same way. I’d love to have an easy way to find the midpoint or centers in a sketch. I’d love a way to align objects. oh well !
First time using QMK! Took a while to install and learn. I think I genuinely spent an hour scrolling through documentation. I imagine I’ll have to do some more wrangling when I flash it.
Finally done! I can finally sleep.
