i am just a tinkerer
Ship Pending review

i only got about half way though this project before i realized i spent way to much time on it so i am just shipping what i have
this is a smartie dispenser that shocks you if you try to get another one before waiting 1 hour

i want the free sticker :3-blahaj-spinning: :yay:
i am making a quick 2 day project to get the free sticker if you ship by Monday

i have a really bad addiction to smarties so the plan is to make a box that dispenses smarties but then shocks you if you try to eat another one with out waiting

fun design things:

  • i gave it 2 buttons so it shocks tough your chest intend of your finger and hurts a lot more
-i made a spring on the inside that stops smarties from just falling out
-i made it print in 2 half’s to make printing easier

i tried to make a boost converter for like 5 hours and it just didn’t work at all my guess is that it was do to the inductor. anyway i decided i will do that latter so i started working on sorting wires(fun) and while doing that i got ideas

usb:
so i learned this has a +5VSB and by found out i mean i actually read thought the data sheet like 30 hours in to this project and i want to add a usb port on it so i can power Arduinos my fume extractor and other things

-12V:
i original wrote this off because i hade a +12 but it turns out it is fun. and if it is there why not add another output it wont have a current sensor because it can only output up to 0.3A so why even bother

case:
i am going to have to make a new case because the current one cant fit everything so i am going to do that tomorrow and this should also allow for me to move where the rotory encoder it becouse before i put it in a bad spot becouse i didnt have space

boost:
i might switch the boost converter to the 12v rail idk yet just though i would menchin it

i took a break to work on other projects while the parts i ordered arive but he is what i got working

display:
i got the display showing things after a lot of tutorials but i figured it out the funny

sensor:
once again i needed a lot of tutorials but i got it to kind of work but is was slightly off i think i just need to tune the sensor its just really finicky

i just printed the new design and spent a long time assembling and i made some changes after having physically making it. (the picture doesn’t fit in the frame for some reason but it is just the finished fume extractor standing up)

legs broken:
so after assembling the legs the i found the little flaps on the legs have to big of a gap between the it and the block that is intended to hold it in place. this makes them not do there only purpose. so i redesigned the flaps to have little blocks to hold in place(the new legs are being printed rn so the new ones are not in the picture)

the MSC(motor speed controller):
so it was like really annoying it kept breaking and it like didn’t do anything and it went against one of my constraints because the potentiometer would stick out of the case so i just kinda removed it and connected the fan directly to the power source so you turn it on and of by just unplugging it.

i printed the old case and it didn’t work at all so i spent all day redesign the case from scratch and i made a lot of changes while i was doing it

size:
i made everything a bit bigger because things didn’t fit mainly the place where the fan it

no screws:
i hade screws before because i thought is is just a good way to hold things together how ever i realized while redesigning they don’t work for this project because they are just to big and heavy so i am instead relying on the elasticity of plastic to hold the cover on

the little flaps:
in the old design i had these tiny flaps that was spoused to increase stability with rails to let it fold up however i made the rails waaay to small so this time i made the rail 5x bigger along with making the flaps longer to increase surface area

rails:
last time i designed the legs, before i designed the rails that they will go in to this resulted it really bad rails so this time i made the rails first then designed the legs so that it will be stronger because i can actually make strong rails

i am going to make a fume extractor because i solder in my room and that’s not good for you

constraints:
small(i want it to be under 1ft so it can fit in my desk)
expandable(i want a way to move it up and down so it can work when i am soldering something on a stand)
flat(i don’t want to have many part stick out so i can put it in my drawer without taking up to much space)
stable(i just don’t want it to fall over)

small:
to make it small i made it out of a small parable fan i repaired

expendable:
i was thinking about how to do this for a long time and eventually settled on a ladder peg system so you lift it to the high you wand then insert the peg so it holds in place

stable:
for this i knew i wanted a system where something would extend on the floor to increase surface area how ever i couldn’t find a good way to do this so i settled on two little flaps that go on the bottom of the legs

flat:
this is why the stability was really hard to figure out but i ended up making a track for the flaps to fold up so they don’t tack up space

this is the case for the thing it has a water bottle and battery then i will use a semiconductor cooler with a radiating fan. the water bottle and battery go inside the backpack and the fan goes outside the backpack so there is a cover that can snap on incase of rain

i added a bot that can play against you. it really is just a random number generator but it works. i also made the plus 2 cards and skip cards work along with fixing a bug where reverse cards cant be played on the sides of the board(unity takes a long time to load and i didnt get a new screen shot so i just put the old one in mb)

so i have once again redesigned everything

AC:
i wanted to add an ac output. why you may ask idk its funny. anyways i add an inverter after the boost converter and another output and to read the voltage of the ac output i added a ZMPT101B and i plan on making a sorta oscilloscope to the ac output cause it cool

Display:
i switch to a bigger spi oled because it can be controlled by digital pins and i need the analog pins to read the new outputs
