Devlog #5
Finally finished the overall design by adding the core turbines, the fan turbine and the nozzle at the very back. I also added the casing, which simply makes the entire design much more complete and aesthetic. Due to my inexperience with Onshape, there were some components that I didn’t design, such as the burner, with which I also had problems understanding where it was, how it was supposed to be designed and how it worked. The last step would be to assemble everything together correctly, which would make it ready to ship.

Devlog #4
I completed the HPC by adding 5 sets of rotating blades and 4 sets of fixed airflow guiding blades, which, in theory, would seriously compress the air, leading to more energy being contained. I also finished the high-pressure turbine, additionally leaving a space for the combustion chamber to take place. The next and probably last thing to do would be designing the low-pressure turbine right behind the high-pressure ones, followed by the nozzle and lastly the casing

Devlog #3

Started designing the HPC(High-pressure compressor) by applying a set of rotating blades and a set of fixed ones with the sole purpose of guiding the air so that the other blades are way more efficient. Most of the time was spent analysing the design, as well as researching airfoils for future upgrades. Next would be to fix the dimensions since they are a tad off and add more parts to the HPC.

Devlog #2

I completely redesigned the turbofan engine by refining the fan blades, making them smoother and more efficient. A low-pressure compressor stage was also added just behind the main fan which blades are also refined.

Day 1 of trying to build a turbofan engine in Onshape without going absolutely mental

This is my first time properly using Onshape since moving to Fusion360, so this could either turn into a genuinely good engine OR a collection of confused parts.
At the moment, only the biggest fan is designed, for which I spent most of the time watching Onshape tutorials.🫩
