Devlog 4

Overview:
Small update, added a checklist system to keep track of things that should be included in DevLog.

What’s New:

  • checklist popup

Issues faced:
I could reuse most of the CSS I had written for the review loading popup, the only major challenge with this was with adding the checkboxes, but this was relatively simple to implement.

Devlog 3

Overview:
Final update before ship! I added a review loading screen so screen doesn’t appear unresponsive when press the review button.

What’s New:

  • review loading

Issues faced:
CSS alignment was difficult but not too different from what I had done previously (e.g with the main loading screen and the standard content viewer)

Devlog 2

Overview:
I implemented the ML model using tensorflow and USE. It’s not that accurate so far as my dataset is very small but I’m hoping to expand it :) If anyone wants to submit a devlog please add it to this form here -> https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfgm_mnizpS2V1FYWlM5shtXWcfPX82wxCaz83TYlaM_csYeQ/viewform?usp=header

What’s New:

  • ML model
  • CSS loading screen whilst model loads (looks better than just unresponsive screen)

Issues faced:
I hadn’t used tensorflow in a while, and the hardest part was finding how to convert the text into a format that the model could use.

Next Steps:

  • improve model
  • add loading screen when press review button

Devlog 1

Overview:
I’ve started working on a guide for writing Devlogs, which is something I’ve found pretty hard since starting Stardance. My hope is to implement an ML algorithm that will analyse and give the Devlog a score.

What’s New:

  • written basic HTML and CSS
  • templates screen and reviwer screen

Issues faced:
Only major difficulty so far has been with writing the CSS and swapping between DIVs but this proved simpler than I initially thought just by using display: none :)

Next Steps:
ML algorithm :)

binary decoder! found a cute app icon of a cat with binary so decided i had to implement something for this. rather than just have the user type in binary numbers, i made it using a checkbox system so the user can understand how the number is being translated.

made first two apps!

notepad app - very simple allows to edit and saves data when open/close the app
cat photo app - found an API that gives random cat photos from a database :) next step need to work on the rendering of these photos since some are very large and mess the window up a bit…

final changes to UI rendering and alignment issues with anchors etc in godot. updated the font to look a bit cleaner and set the display mode to ‘viewport’ to ensure it maintains the same aspect ratio across all devices. game is officialy submitted to itch.io!

game coming together nicely! added custom themes for each section (one example shown below) to ensure it has a very minimalistic design. also added background music and a confetti effect centered at the mouse cursor when the game ends and user successfully gets to 100 clicks!

completed all mini games below is shown the projectiles chasing the mouse (each time they hit it decreases the score) the screenshot is kinda bad but difficult when have to take mouse out of frame for screenshot 🫣) next improving the UI im going to add custom colour themes and improve the appearance of buttons as well as adding a game over screen :)

got the idea for the game and made the very basic first few stages (first basic clicks to lure user into false sense of security, then random movement, then duplicate false buttons that decrease score) as well as very simple UI.. next will implement the more difficult phases and then make UI more interesting :)
