My last shipment failed because I was getting the user to manually state when they win. While this was intentional, as in real life, part of Connect 4 and Tic Tac Toe (noughts and crosses) is keeping track. However, I like the suggestion, and the 2 games that didn’t have win detection now do. Now I believe I am ready to ship. This project was supposed to be a small code I was writing for me to learn Python skills, but it has turned out much bigger than I expected, and now I am proud of that implementation, so I am going to ship again :)

I have made a simple game compendium which runs in the terminal and is text based. It is a python based compendium, which stores data in text files, and is installed using pip (instructions on the pypi project).
There are three games: Connect 4, Tic Tac Toe, and Number Guesser.
These games challenged my abilities in coding, as this was a very challenging game to code. I have only very basic knowledge of python coding. However, number guesser was noticeably easier as it was single lines, rather than me trying to invent a way to store the data of where various tokens were positioned.

Overall, I put a lot of effort and time into this game compendium. While I am a beginner coder, and while it is only text based, I am proud of what I have managed to create, and that it can now be installed with pip.

I hope you enjoy this game :)

I completely forgot to do development logs!! So frustrated but I will try to name my progress over the 8 hours of work. I have recorded what the game does now, it doesn’t work on most boundary cases and there are a lot of ways to break it, such as saying a number too high in Connect 4 creates an uncaught IndexError. However, I am just proud to get a Connect 4 board that renders the positions of the tokens, and makes sure they fall to the bottom. It also stores the leaderboard in a text file in a slightly weird looking syntax I created. Also, the user name is saved.

I’ve got the basics sorted, a laid out plan and have started the menu. My main highlight so far has been getting the file checking working, so it greets the user by it’s name if they have it stored in the user data file and otherwise it catches it rather than crashing on FileNotFoundError.

I have added quite a bit, with the timer now working and started on the platformer minigame. The stars took a while, as I had forgotten to create a seperate animation for each (as they are in different positions).

Pick-A-Path:
I have created a simple pick-a-path website game :)
I have made a pick-a-path game with simple storylines that the user transports through. It is a website-based game hosted by myself.

Why:
I am not a particularly good storyteller, but my goal with this was to improve my understanding of html, CSS, and JavaScript.

How to use

  • Click try project, and you will be transported to my website! The scaling should be fine for most screens. If the sizing doesn’t seem right to you, you can judge proportions off my screenshots (that is how intended).
  • Select a level (I recommend starting at level 1)
  • Read the story, and press the buttons to make your decisions as you go through the story
  • Once you finish a level, it will make the level button go green (using localstorage) to keep track of completed levels.

Thank you for having the time to read this, and I hope you love it :)

I have done lots of small touch-ups, fixes, and other small adjustments like making the completion saving to localstorage work in all cases. I also slightly changed the README, and changed the screenshot there. I am ready for my second ship!
