Devlog #01
This is my brand new (and by far most complex) hardware project. This is a Digital Storage Oscilloscope on a single PCB and powered entirely by USB-C.
I have almost finished designing the schematic but it surely needs improvments!
Key Specifications
- Analog Bandwidth: 20 MHz (-3dB).
- Real-Time Sampling: 100 MS/s at 8 Bit
- Full Analog Front-End (AFE): Standard 1 MΩ // 30 pF BNC input with ESD diode clamps, high-Z FET input buffer (ADA4817), programmable gain amplifier for Volts/Div scaling (OPA820 + Mux), DC offset injection, and a 30 MHz Sallen-Key anti-aliasing filter.
- Hardware Capture Engine: A dedicated 100 MSPS pipeline that wirtes samples as fast as 10ns async SRAM.
- MCU & UI: An STM32H7 (480 MHz Cortex-M7) reads the captured data via an FMC bus, handling waveform math, rotary encoders, and rendering to a 7-inch touchscreen display.
- Clean Power Delivery: All dual low-noise analog rails (+10V / -10V) and digital rails (3.3V and 1.2V core) are generated on-board from a single 5V USB-C input.
Now I need to do some final checks on the shcematic and then straight to the PCB
