As soon as I saw the feedback I got into god mode and started coding — no delay, no overthinking. Here’s everything I did:
-
README — rewrote it myself
Took README_OUTLINE.md as a checklist and wrote every sentence in my own voice. Cut the AI marketing fluff. It’s ~65 lines now: what it is, features, default dashboard URL, how to run, credits, AI Usage, notes. Mine. -
AI Usage — honest and specific
Added ## AI Usage to the README. Full version in AI_USAGE_DRAFT.md.
- Most of this codebase is mine. I wrote the structure, features, and UI logic.
- AI helped with: early scaffolding, CSS debugging, the World Monitor embed, earlier README drafts, and this pass (keyboard shortcuts, todos/focus/clock rewrites, README polish).
- I picked the product direction, features, and defaults. Tested everything in the browser. Reviewed before it shipped. Wrote the final README and disclosure myself.
Not claiming AI wrote zero. Also not claiming it wrote the project. Ask me about any part of the code.
- Keyboard shortcuts — Feature A, built that same burst
- / focuses search (skipped while typing in a field)
- Esc closes Super Menu / map, blurs the field
- 1–9 opens that dock shortcut
- T opens themes
- Hint card under Super Menu → Tools
- Search input has title=“Press / to jump here”
Extended the existing keydown path instead of duplicating it. Ignore shortcuts when you’re in an input/textarea/contentEditable (except Esc). preventDefault only when I actually handle the key.
Also rewrote renderTodos, the focus timer, and tick/clock in a plainer style — same behavior, no comments, easier to explain line by line.
-
Codebase — I know how it works
Boot: loadState → theme/wallpaper → render → bind → tick → optional map.
State: localStorage newtab_state_v6.
Map: World Monitor blocks iframes, so fetch HTML → inject → rewrite assets → srcdoc → fallback link.
Keyboard: handleKeys at the end of bind(). -
Cleanup
Dropped planning docs, unused images/fonts/brand files, and a dead answer-card UI. Kept AI_USAGE_DRAFT.md. Zero broken asset refs. -

If a judge asks “did AI write this?” the answer matches the AI Usage section. Throw any file at me and I’ll walk through it.
