Devlog #9

Since my last devlog, my solver and DEVSIM have started to cooperate. All ten benchmark devices match, the MOSFETs included, so the physics phase is done. THANK THE LORD

Now I’m working on the part I care about most personally, which is making the simulator teach. The browser used to be a wall of knobs and plots with no explanation. Now every knob and every plot has a small “i” button. Click it and a drawer slides out with a plain explanation first, then the real equations for anyone who wants to go deeper.

I wrote 35 of these explanations covering the physics, how the solver works, the devices, and how to read each plot. Then I checked them against the code. One credited the diodes with an accuracy number that actually belonged to a different device. Another claimed that one failed point in a sweep doesn’t ruin the rest, but the code stops at the first failure.

The equations turned out to be hard to figure. The markdown reader treated the backslashes inside the math as its own escape characters and deleted them, so 92 bits of spacing and notation came out messed up. Now I pull the math out before the markdown step and put it back after.

I also bundled the math and markdown libraries into the project, so the page works with no internet.

Next up are band diagrams, which show the energy levels electrons can sit at. The page will draw them straight from the solved device.
