Finishing Touches (Saving Special ✨)
Hello everyone, I am getting close to shipping this project and I have done the finishing touches today which is so much, and I just have to get my fellow game testers up and test the game for any bugs or anything. I know there are a few here and there, but I should have fixed them when I started, doing it now will be too much, and I will fix it in the second ship. So without further to do lets get straight into it.
Loading Scenes
The loading scenes are the guide scene, preference scene, and the loading part itself. So now in the preference scene there are volume sliders for the different things like sfx, audio in general and bg music. And there is also a slider for the speed on how fast the text goes by, since you can not skip it i thought "SHould it not be useful to just have a speed, so fast and slow readers can adjust it to make it feel more like a game? So then I added a slider, all the settings are saved I think, but since this is just finishing the logic and not the testing part I will not know for a fact. Overall the ui looks great, and mainly for the save manager, I was working on connecting the variables throughout the different scenes, and when they load a game, based on where they are in the game (like progress wise) then it will put them in the corresponding scene, this was not hard but I kept on forgetting what to add until I started wroking on a different scene.
Other Fixes
So one major bug I had was previously when I was working on the map scene, I thought I saved the progress but I didn’t and then I committed and all my progress was gone, so I had to spend some time today fixing all the bugs there, and then some of the dialogue in that scene, I thought for some reason was inputted incorrectly, then I proceeded to re fix the whole structure adding lines to the dialogue and then I realized it was wrong and had to put it back, since changing dialogue doesnt sound like a big deal, you have to understand, I changed all the variables because of that. Anyways that was the last thing I did today but lets talk about some other progress I did today.
Audio
The audio for the game was all recorded today, and everything is handmade (like in the meaning that it is not taken from somewhere else) the only thing that is going to be used for the game that is not handmade, is the background music (im not a good artist, but I am a musician so I am sure I can learn how to do it) and also the fonts, the fonts used for this game look amazing, and I will use it again for all my other games. After making the audio I had to implement it everywhere such as keyboard noise for the letters typing on the screen. Or the crabs moving, or the sponge scrubbing, or the cannons firing going like "Boom Boom" and other stuff. Anyways that summarizes most of the things I have done today, and tomorrow I will official test the game and get ready to ship, bye guys!
